School Group Rate

  • £6.50 per pre-16 student & £7.50 per post-16 student (between Sep - 31 Oct) 
  • £5.50 per pre-16 student & £6.50 per post-16 student (between 1 Nov - 28 Feb)
  • £7.50 per pre-16 student &£8.50 per post-16 student (between 1 Mar - 24 Jul)
  • One free teacher ticket with every 10 Secondary pupils or every 6 Primary pupils. Additional adults £12.75 each
  • Optional Education session - £1.50 per child
  • Valid Mon – Fri
  • Excluding school holidays
  • Subject to availability

Teachers and accompanying adults are required to supervise children (those under 16 years of age) at all times. Noisy and unruly behaviour upsets the animals and other visitors.

  • ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is considered reasonably wheelchair friendly.

    Free entry for one essential carer or free car entry into the Zoo is available per paying disabled visitor.

    Please note: Due to building work the car park and road near the Children's Farm and Hullabazoo indoor play will be closed 14-19 March. Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Ramp Access

    There is ramp access to the following areas:

    • The Animal Houses.
    • The Wild Bite Café and Lookout Café.
    • The Sealion Arena and Bird Arena to view the displays
    • Hullabazoo and the Children's Farm
    • The Estate Office (First Aid Point)
    • The Safari bus and Road Train.
    • Owl Wood - Access may cause wheelchair users some difficulty, as it is covered by bark chippings in order to subdue the noise.
    • The Train - Please note that only two wheelchairs can be accommodated on the Train per trip.

    Wheelchairs

    We have wheelchairs that are available for hire and it is advised to book them in advance of your visit by calling the Retail Shop on 01582 871517. A deposit of £25.00 is required which will be refunded on return of the wheelchair at the end of your visit.

    The wheelchairs are non-motorised and are not self-propelling. They will fold to fit on the Open Top Bus providing the user is able to mount the steps onto the bus. The Double Decker Safari Bus has a drop down access ramp.

    Toilet Facilities

    There are four disabled toilet facilities around the Park, clearly marked on the map given out on entry. The toilet facilities near the Main Entrance have shared access and the nearest disabled toilet facility to the Main Entrance that does not have shared access is the one located next to the Discovery Centre.

    Assistance Dogs

    As we do not allow dogs into the Park we have two kennels, located at the main entrance, for Assistance Dogs only. Assistance Dogs will be kept in the kennels for the duration of the visit and will be provided with water only. Owners are required to leave a mobile number and must check on their dog at regular intervals during their visit.

  • Nearest coach stop  Parking in the external car park at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is free of charge for minibuses and coaches of school visiting the zoo, during term time only
  • Nearest bus stop  The park is now served by Centrebus route X31, linking Luton Central Station, Luton Centre, Dunstable and Hemel Hempstead (Centre and Rail Station) with the zoo.

Pre-visits for Teachers

Education sessions

Whipsnade Zoo has been awarded a Learning Outside The Classroom Quality Badge for its educational activities! Linked to the national curriculum, the sessions aim to deliver interactive experiences using resources such as live animals, biofacts and multimedia.

Education sessions cost £1.50 per pupil per session and are designed for 1 – 35 pupils.

Sessions are catered for the following levels of education:

  • Primary school
  • Secondary school
  • Post-16 studies
